Black Diamond Miniature Horse Stud was founded in February 1996 by Faye and Alan Yarker along with their daughter Vicki Yarker.  We are located in the beautiful Pomahaka valley, nestled under the Blue Mountains in West Otago, southern New Zealand.  This area is home to some of the best animal breeders of Clydesdales, racehorses, sheep, beef and dairy cattle in the country.

Alan trains all of the miniature horses from the day they are born using trust and patience.  All of our horses are trained to lead and float at a young age.  The miniature horses we have sold, both near and far, are being used in a variety of ways, ranging from harness, showing, riding for smaller children, soul mates for older people who can no longer handle large horses.  They are ideal for people with disabilities, i.e. Riding for the Disabled and as pets.  Miniature horses can be transported in a horse float or van.

Our first stallion was "Okanza's Little Rebel" a Cat. A stallion measuring 32 1/2" and he is still producing lovely fine foals.  Our second Cat. A in "Black Diamond Topaz Gem", a 31" rich dark coloured chocolate silver dapple.  Our 3rd stallion is a beautiful Cat. A pintoloosa "Black Diamond Arctic Winds".  The three of us helped, with others, to form a new Southland Miniature Club in 1997 for the benefit of all dedicated miniature horse lovers in the south.  These people have made their mark at shows throughout the country and some are recognised as very highly qualified judges.  We currently have a base stock of 3 stallions, 7 mares and a filly, and one lovely pinto colt that we hope to use as a future stallion.

Black Diamond stock have features well in all shows they have entered.
