Black Diamond Miniature Horse Stud was founded in February 1996 by Faye and Alan Yarker along with their daughter Vicki Yarker-Hitchcock. We are located in the beautiful Pomahaka Valley, nestled under the Blue Mountains in West Otago, southern New Zealand. This area is home to some of the best animal breeders of Clydesdales, racehorses, sheep and beef and dairy cattle in the country.

Alan trains all of the miniature horses from the day they are born using trust and patience. All
of our horses are trained to lead and float at a young age. The miniature horses
we have sold, both near and far, are being used in a variety of ways, ranging from
harness, showing, riding for smaller children, soul mates for older people who can no longer handle
large horses. They are ideal for people with disabilities, i.e. Riding for the
Disabled and as pets. Miniature horses can be transported in a horse float or a van.
Our first stallion was "Okanza's Little Rebel" a CatA stallion measuring
32½" and he is still producing lovely fine foals. Our second CatA is
"Black Diamond Topaz Gem", a 31" rich dark coloured chocolate silver dapple.
Our only CatB stallion is "Pedro's Tequila Sunrise", a beautiful bay
pinto who is a past Royal Show champion.
The three of us helped, with others, to form a new Southland
Miniature Club in 1997 for the benefit of all dedicated miniature
horse lovers in the south. These people have made their mark at shows
throughout the country and some are recognised as very highly qualified judges.
We currently have a base stock of four stallions, nine mares and a filly and two lovely Appaloosa colts who we hope to use as future stallions.
